MY STORY

An ordinary woman, who had ordinary dreams, who struggled and fought, who cried and was broken, who became an advocate, who became a leader, who became the woman she is today. Born in the Bricks, one of the toughest cities in Newark, NJ and raised in Youngsville, NC, she is an innovator, game changer, ground breaker and advocate for social change. She is truthful and gut punching, delivering yet poised. She is a woman with Purpose, Passion and Power.

Dr. Tamara Mangum is often described as an innovative, game-changing, ground-breaking entrepreneur, business coach, teacher and motivator. Tamara holds three advanced degrees (North Carolina Central University and Rutgers University) which include a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Change from Walden University. Her academic achievements also include a private investigations certificate in which she utilizes to perform intermediate and advanced background checks. 

Dr. T has become a sought after trainer and motivational speaker in the areas of leadership development, business and small business development and entrepreneurship. Tamara has presented at several business conferences and programs and has been featured in Success Magazine, Forbes and InBiz Magazines.

Dr. T is a past and present member of several national academic and professional organizations to include: the National Academic Honors Society, the National Association of Professional Women Business Owners, and the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is an active participant in the fight against juvenile diabetes and leukemia. She has been a Corporate Chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is a past Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in the City of Newark, NJ. She is a graduate of the Prudential’s Young Entrepreneur Program, a recipient of the Newark Most Promising Entrepreneur Award, a Make Mine A $Million Business Awardee and was a participant in President Bill Clinton’s Economic Opportunity Initiative and the UBS Small Business Advisory Programs. Her achievements have been featured in Forbes Magazine, the Star Ledger, Success Magazine and InBiz Magazine. In addition, Dr. T  has received countless National Business Awards to include: Top 100 Women Owned Businesses in NJ, Top Emerging Small Businesses in the US, Best in Business, Fifty Fastest Growing Businesses in NJ and the First Professional Black Woman of the Year in Raleigh, NC.

 

Dr. T's commitment to the social and economic development of African American Women, their children and families is well documented. Dr. T is President Emeritus of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Triangle NC Chapter and a past Chairwoman and current member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Newark Economic Development Corporation. She acts as mentor and business coach to several emerging and existing small business enterprises.
